From Dublin Airport By Bus:-The blue Aircoach OR Airbus 747, both travel directly by road from Dublin International Airport to O’Connell Street. Journey times vary between 25-45 minutes – avoid rush hour traffic (i.e. 7.30 – 9.30am; 1700 – 1830). Prices are approximately €7 one-way, €12 return. Taxi fare from the airport should cost approximately €25-30, depending on traffic and the number of people travelling.

O’Connell Street is Dublin’s widest avenue is very enjoyable to walk along and is usually brimming with pedestrians shopping or heading to one of its numerous bars or restaurants.

O’Connell Street and its surroundings, like Henry Street or Parnell Street, are some of Dublin’s main shopping destinations with numerous shopping centres, cafes, bars and book shops.

Grafton Street, located between Trinity College and St Stephen’s Green is full of beautiful historic buildings housing iconic Irish businesses such as Brown Thomas, Weir & Sons and Bewley’s Grafton Street Café and offers an experience that cannot be found elsewhere. It has a great variety of retail stores including café’s, bars, restaurants and hotels and caters for shoppers searching for high-end or high street.

The famous street has become renowned as a launch pad for musical acts and has played host to U2 front man Bono. Other principal shopping streets beside Wicklow Street, Dawson Street, and South Great Georges Street.

The nearby Powerscourt Towncentre is one of the nicer, albeit small, shopping centres in the city – Also close by is The Georges Street Arcade, an indoor market well worth a visit.

The Spire of Dublin, alternatively titled the Monument of Light, is a large, stainless steel, pin-like monument 120 metres in height, located on the site of the former Nelson’s Pillar on O’Connell Street in Dublin, Ireland.

During the Easter Rising of 1916, the GPO served as the headquarters of the uprising’s leaders. It was from outside this building on the 24th of April 1916, that Patrick Pearse read out the Proclamation of the Irish Republic.[8]The building was destroyed by fire in the course of the rebellion, save for the granite facade, and not rebuilt until 1929, by the Irish Free State government. An original copy of the Proclamation of the Irish Republic was displayed in the museum at the GPO.

Trinity College, a minutes walk from The Street Hotel is the oldest university in Ireland, founded in 1592 by Queen Elizabeth. Among many famous students to attend the college were playwrights Oliver Goldsmith and Samuel Beckett. Trinity’s lawns and cobbled quads provide a pleasant haven in the heart of the city. The major attractions are the Old Library and the Book of Kells, housed in the Old Library.

The Book of Kells Exhibition – a “must see” on the itinerary of all visitors to Dublin. Located in the heart of Dublin City, a walk through the cobbled stones of Trinity College Dublin will bring visitors back to the 18th century, when the magnificent Old Library building was constructed. Inside is housed the Book of Kells – a 9th-century gospel manuscript famous throughout the world. Visitors are welcomed seven days a week.

Erected in the early thirteenth century on the site of a Viking settlement, Dublin Castle served for centuries as the headquarters of English, and later British, administration in Ireland. In 1922, following Ireland’s independence, Dublin Castle was handed over to the new Irish government. It is now a major government complex and a key tourist attraction. We hope you enjoy your visit.
